Premium Diamond-Sawn

Sawn Sandstone Blocks Sydney

Sawn all round blocks are the tailored suit of the sandstone world: diamond-sawn on all six sides for crisp arrises, dead-flat beds and a smart, smooth finish. The options for use are limitless — edging, walling, steps, plinths, benches, or a single monolithic feature block in a courtyard — and because they’re sawn at the Glenorie quarry, every block can be cut to your exact dimensions.

Precision Stone for Contemporary Design

Modern architecture asks for clean lines, and sawn blocks deliver them in natural stone. Fine, tight mortar joints — or dry-stacked, near-invisible ones — give walls a monolithic quality that split and rockfaced finishes can’t. The sawn face also shows off the stone’s figure: banding, veining and colour shifts read like polished timber grain.

Popular uses include feature walls and blade walls, formal garden steps (a 350mm-deep sawn block is a ready-made tread), bench seats, outdoor kitchen bases, and oversized entry plinths. Combine with hydrasplit or rockfaced blocks to contrast smooth and textured faces in one design.

Cut to Your Specification

Standard blocks follow the 110mm-bedwidth walling formats, but sawn stock really earns its keep in custom work: monolithic steps, seat-height blocks (450mm), pier caps and structural lintels are all sawn to order on site. Supply a cutting list and we’ll quote it — there’s no import lead time because the saws and the stone share an address.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What are sawn all round sandstone blocks?

Blocks diamond-sawn on all six faces, giving smooth surfaces, crisp edges and precise dimensions. They suit contemporary walling, steps and features where clean lines matter.

How much do sawn sandstone blocks cost?

Walling formats start around $250/m² of face ex-quarry. Custom pieces — steps, seats, plinths — are quoted from your cutting list. Free quotes include delivery options.

Can sawn blocks be used as steps?

Yes — a single sawn block cut at, say, 350mm deep × 150–180mm high makes a monolithic step with no joints to fail. Bullnosed front edges are available from the quarry stonemasons.

Can I order custom block sizes?

Yes — supply a cutting list and each block is sawn to dimension at the Glenorie quarry. Because cutting happens where the stone is quarried, custom work has no exotic lead times.
