From a single garden wall to a whole sandstone house, blocks are the backbone of Sydney stonework — and buying them direct from the quarry changes what’s possible. Our blocks are quarried, split and sawn at Glenorie in Sydney’s Hills District, so every finish is in stock, custom sizes are cut to order, and prices start at $120/m² for rough squared block pallets.
The range runs from the traditional rockfaced block — the finish synonymous with Sydney sandstone — through contemporary hydrasplit and premium sawn all round blocks, to rustic rough squared blocks sold by the pallet or loose by the tonne.
Four Finishes, One Quarry
Rockfaced blocks carry the classic chiselled face that defines heritage Sydney walling. The standard bedwidth is 110mm — the width of a standard brick, so they course perfectly with brickwork — in heights of 100, 150, 200 and 250mm, plus a 300mm-high block at 130mm bedwidth. Hydrasplit blocks share the same dimensions with a cleaner split-only face for modern, contemporary settings.
Rough squared blocks are the economical choice: palletised in four layers (4m² per pallet) in mixed colours, or sold loose by the tonne from the quarry bins where you can hand-select each block. Sawn all round blocks are diamond-sawn on all six sides — a beautiful, smart finish for feature walls, steps, seats and formal garden architecture.
Sized to Course With Brickwork
Because the standard 110mm bedwidth matches a standard brick, sandstone blocks integrate directly into brick construction — veneer skins, fence plinths, letterboxes and quoins all course cleanly. Need something outside the standard heights? The blocks are made on site, so thicker bedwidths and custom heights are simply cut to your specification.
Colour is quarry-run: whites, greys, yellows, browns, oranges and purples. Visit to hand-select, or send photos of existing stonework and we’ll match batches for extensions and repairs.
From Garden Walls to Whole Homes
Rockfaced blocks add value anywhere — edging, retaining walls, fences, right up to complete homes. Rough squared blocks build beautiful dry-stone and mortared garden walls at the lowest cost. For engineered retaining, split logs and large rough squared blocks step the scale up, and excavator-sized billets and boulders handle the biggest civil jobs. Whatever the wall, it can all come off one quarry in one colour palette.

Yes. The 110mm standard bedwidth is deliberately the width of a standard brick, and block heights work with brick course multiples, so sandstone integrates cleanly into brick fences, plinths and veneer.
